In a recent interview with Chris Akin Presents, Rachel Bolan discussed the departure of the band’s singer, Erik Grönwall, in March 2024.
“Well, I’ll put it this way: we understand exactly what you’re saying. And I’d be a liar if I said sometimes I don’t feel the same way,” the bassist responded when the host said Grönwall’s statement sounded a little ‘fishy.’ “We were told exactly what he announced to the rest of the world via his YouTube channel. That’s exactly what we were told. That’s exactly what he sent in a text to Snake. I’m not gonna sit here and shit talk the guy because it’s not gonna do anything. But we had a really, really, really good thing going, and we’re here now.”
He continued: “You’re not the first person to say this to any of us. We’ve all been DMed and a lot of fans thought think the same thing, and, like I said, I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I thought the same thing at times, but we’re just going by what he told to us.”
Grönwall announced his decision to leave Skid Row on March 27, 2024. He stated that he needed to ‘prioritize [his] health and full recovery.’ For four concerts in late May and early June, Lzzy Hale of Halestorm filled in as the band’s lead vocalist.
Moreover, Grönwall recently announced that he would be touring Europe in 2025 with Michael Schenker. This came as a surprise to the fans, as one user commented: “What happened to not being able to tour?”
The singer replied, “Hey, medicine-free and one with all the vaccinations! I never said I wasn’t able to tour, only that the amount of touring at the time was too much to handle during my recovery process. Feels great to head back out!”
In late March 2022, Skid Row released their first single with Grönwall, ‘The Gang’s All Here.’ The song is also the title track of their latest album.
Skid Row played their first show with Grönwall on March 26, 2022, at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were the opening act for the rescheduled dates of the Scorpions’ ‘Sin City Nights’ residency.
