Queens of the Stone Age have announced they are canceling the rest of their July tour dates.
The band shared the news on their social media accounts and said the frontman Josh Homme needs emergency surgery in the US, so they can’t continue with their European shows. The statement read:
“QOTSA regret to announce that Josh Homme must return to the United States immediately for emergency surgery. Every effort was made to push through and play for you, but it is no longer an option to continue.”
What Shows Are Cancelled?
The canceled gigs include eight headlining shows and festival slots, starting July 10 in Vitrolles, France, and ending July 27 in Athens. Their next planned gig is on August 24 in Gothenburg, Sweden. They last played in Milan, Italy, after missing the AMA Music Festival due to unspecified health issues.
Homme’s surgery details haven’t been shared, but he has been open about facing health challenges recently. In 2022, he revealed he had surgery to remove a type of cancer.
Their website still lists upcoming shows in Europe for August and a series of gigs across North America until November.
Is The Catacombs Show Cancelled?
Just recently, Queens of the Stone Age revealed that they were set to perform at the Paris Catacombs, a venue frontman Josh Homme has been trying to book for 18 years. He announced the news at a press conference during Hellfest and revealed they would be the first band to ever perform there.
Even though the date of the performance isn’t announced yet, it looks like it might get canceled or postponed due to the recent health scare.
