TMZ recently reported that Wes Scantlin from Puddle of Mudd was arrested on July 31 for a warrant and resisting arrest.
The frontman was stopped for a traffic violation in Burbank, California. Police found he had a warrant for a past weapon charge at an airport. They asked him to leave his car, but he refused. A crisis negotiator was called in, but Scantlin still wouldn’t leave.
Police used pepper spray, but it didn’t work. Finally, SWAT was called at 4:00 a.m. They broke the car window and used non-lethal pepper balls to force him out. TMZ said Scantlin went to the hospital to have his eyes flushed from the pepper balls, but he wasn’t hurt.
He’s been charged with the weapon warrant and resisting arrest. He will appear in court on August 20 The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department booked Scantlin at 6:17 a.m. on July 31.
Scantlin’s Previous Arrest
Wes has had many problems with the law, alcohol, and money. He claimed to get sober in 2017 but later returned to rehab. He said he was motivated by his family and fans. In February 2023, RadarOnline.com reported that Scantlin was arrested for showing up at a home he lost to foreclosure.
A TikTok video showed him there. Scantlin bought the house in 2005 but lost it to foreclosure in 2015. The current owner said he camped outside and threatened her maid, leading her to call the police. The caption of the video said:
“When you walk down your driveway to catch an Uber and find a stranger camped outside and then realize it’s a famous rock singer who had his house foreclosed on (and has been arrested several times before) and was coming back to claim the house so you have to call the police because he begins to threaten the maid you hired and then he gets arrested because turns out he has an active order against him.”
Scantlin was arrested for a similar problem in 2016. After losing his property, he was accused of breaking windows and damaging electronics at the new owner’s home. He was charged with vandalism and released on bail. That time, he was released a few hours later without bail.
