Porno for Pyros bassist Martyn LeNoble slammed Perry Farrell following the Jane’s Addiction onstage fight and break.
“I can say, unequivocally, that Perry has been the worst frontman I’ve ever worked with. Always a kind word, followed by sh*tty actions,” the musician wrote on X. “The fish rots from the head down. I still don’t understand how he channeled some of those great lyrics and vocals on the first two Jane’s [Addiction] records. And I’ve worked with some ‘difficult’ singers.”
He continued talking about Farrell, “Perry doesn’t show up for rehearsals, sound checks, writing, etc. He jumps in late with sh*tty lyrics. Some I [sic] had to tell him were terrible. Unprepared, wild-eyed, not present, high. Motherf*cker does it over and over again.”
Farrell’s wife Etty has supported him after the onstage fight, tour cancellation, and Jane’s Addiction going on break. “And Etty is a horrible person. ‘I will sue you…. We have money to burn.’ Let’s see where that goes,” LeNoble also said of Etty.
Still, the bassist deleted his posts later on. “Deleted my posts. There was no need for me to pile it on. I hope PF gets help,” he wrote in a separate message to explain himself.
LeNoble helped start Porno for Pyros in 1992 with Farrell, Peter DiStefano, and Stephen Perkins. He left the band in 1995, joined the short reunion in 2009, came back in 2022, and left again the next year.
After Jane’s Addiction announced their break and canceled the tour, Farrell posted an apology on his Instagram story, writing, “This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show.”
The frontman added, “Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”
Jane’s Addiction technician, Dan Cleary, recently confirmed that Farrell attacked Navarro also backstage. Cleary, who has worked with the band for 17 years, said that Farrell seemed troubled during their shows. He noted that Farrell started screaming lyrics at the band before he punched Navarro again.
Deleted my posts. There was no need for me to pile it on. I hope PF gets help.
