One of the fan-favorite stars to take on the role of Wonder Woman in James Gunn’s DC Universe got candid about what her superhero movie future holds.
Eiza González, one of the most popular fancasts for Wonder Woman in the new DC Universe, has spoken about her future in superhero movies. Gal Gadot played Diana Prince in multiple DCEU films, but the actress’ Wonder Woman 3 was canceled, leaving her future as the DC hero up in the air. Based on reports that all the DCEU’s Justice League cast will be replaced with new actors in James Gunn’s new DC Universe, the Wonder Woman role should be free for González or another actress.
Speaking to Comicbook.com, González revealed that she would love to be part of a superhero movie, but it is okay if it never happens. The actress talked about losing out on the Catwoman role in The Batman, revealing that she has since made her peace regarding appearing in a superhero movie. While González is still open to being part of future DCU movies if the right opportunity comes along — perhaps the Wonder Woman role she has been fancast as — the actress is fine just watching them as a fan. “I don’t see it happening. I mean, it’s like my opportunity has been there and it’s not happened for me. So I think it’s just not in the cards for Eiza Gonzalez, which is OK. I’m, I’m ok with it. Actually, I think that when I was younger, I was like, it really excited me and obviously like this point, it’s been so many years. I was so excited when I was like, camera tested for The Batman. And that whole process was like shocking and I couldn’t believe it because I was especially such a huge fan of Catwoman. And in that moment, I was like, you know, distraught that I didn’t get it.
I’m not, like, as passionate as, like I want to be in those worlds anymore as I would love to if the opportunity happened. But, you know, I’m, I’m just a geek, like in the sense that I like to watch it and it, it, I don’t have like a personal, like I didn’t get it so I don’t watch, you know, like, I don’t care about that anymore at all.”
Recasting Wonder Woman For The DCU After Gal Gadot’s Exit
The entire Justice League cast is seemingly out for Gunn’s DCU, but fortunately there are some great choices to replace Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
Who Eiza Gonzalez Could Play In The New DC Universe
The Actress Is A Fan-Favorite For Wonder Woman
González is one of the names regularly brought up to replace Gadot as the new Wonder Woman of the DCU. Other popular names for the role include Ana de Armas, Alexandra Daddario, and Adria Arjona. González has plenty of experience in action roles to do justice to the character, with Diana being known as a formidable warrior.
While she is a popular name for Wonder Woman, there are other DCU characters that González could be a great fit for. The DCU could give González the chance to finally become Catwoman after missing out on the role in director Matt Reeves’ The Batman. The Brave and the Bold is DC’s Batman reboot movie, and the film could use Catwoman on top of Bruce Wayne, Damian Wayne, and other teased Bat-Family members.
The Batman 2 Release Date Delayed By A Year
In a surprising turn of events, DC has delayed Matt Reeves’ The Batman – Part II a whole year, with Robert Pattinson’s return coming in 2026.
González is also great for multiple other possible DCU roles. The announced Swamp Thing movie would be a good place for the universe to set up the Justice League Dark through cameo appearances from some of the team’s most famous members, and González has the charisma needed to play Zatanna, with her past roles showing she can play unpredictable characters with a flair to them. González is also pitch-perfect casting for the Green Lantern Jessica Cruz if her DCU fancasting as Wonder Woman does not pan out.
