In a recent post on his official Facebook account, Poison’s frontman Bret Michaels honored the veterans.
The singer shared a photo from his show at the Tortuga Music Festival and wrote the following in his message:
“As the son of a veteran & my entire family that serves, there will never be a day or concert that goes by that I don’t thank, honor and celebrate our veterans, our men and women & their families that serve our country, our first responders and frontline workers. Over 40,000 people at the Tortuga Music Festival lit up the beach and felt the exact same way I do!!!
Michaels likes to thank his Hometown Heroes, which include military members, first responders, and teachers, at his concerts. He even brings some of them on stage when he sings Poison’s ‘Something to Believe In,’ a hit from 1990.
Michaels Cares About Honoring The Veterans
The rocker also honored military veterans and active service members in November 2021 during a football game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears. Here is what he said in his military salute:
“It’s good to be back here in Steeler Country. My father’s a veteran, and everyone in my family has served — my sister’s at Offutt Air Force Base [in Nebraska]. All my relatives [are] here, and I can’t thank our men and women [enough] for all they do. Cousin Bobby, two-time Purple Heart recipient. My uncle Nick from Butler [Pennsylvania] sacrificed his life in the line of duty for our country. And I can’t thank our veterans enough. There are not enough thanks for our men and women that give us the freedom to be out here, to be able to watch amazing football.”
In 2022, Michaels also volunteered to serve burgers to veterans in Phoenix for a charity event. The event took place at Grand Veterans Village. It is a shelter run by U.S. Veterans and home to 180 veterans.
