In a new Instagram post, Perry Farrell’s wife Etty Lau Farrell spoke out against Dave Navarro’s mental health statement about the singer.
“As you know, Perry is the gentlest of souls,” she wrote. “We are equally astonished at Perry’s physical outburst as you are – but you must know that Perry must had been pushed to his absolute limit.. to that end we apologize. We are taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal.”
Etty Lau continued, “Perry already has appointments with a otolaryngologist and a neurologist. If you know and love Perry well, you know there’s no need for me to address the other false narratives. Our souls know. With all of your love, kindness, compassion, and support, you know, Perry will persevere… He will recover.”
“He will be happy again. He will once again be able to share his music, vision and artistry – unbridled. Make no mistake when he’s ready he will take another giant leap over obstacles to make us laugh, think, while changing the world together.”
She lastly added in her post, “We can rejoice together then. And you will know, we would not have been able to do it without you.”
While other Jane’s Addiction band members pointed out mental problems, Perry talked about physical problems the singer has been dealing with right now. Last week, the band canceled the rest of their U.S. tour because of Farrell’s mental health issues. Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins announced it together on Instagram, just days after a fight between Farrell and Navarro on stage.
“Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current U.S. tour,” they noted in a statement. “Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs.”
The band added, “We deeply regret that we are not able to come through for all our fans who have already bought tickets. We can see no solution that would either ensure a safe environment on stage or reliably allow us to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis. Our hearts are broken.”
Etty Lau had also made a similar statement in her first post after the physical altercation between Perry and Dave. She explained that he was dealing with tinnitus and a sore throat, and he felt his voice was being overwhelmed by the band.
