Pearl Jam has had to cancel some stops on their current UK/European tour because of a health scare. They first had to cancel their London show on June 29th. Now, their upcoming gigs in Berlin, Germany on July 2nd and 3rd are also off.
The rockers took to social media to announce the bad news that a member of the band was sick. They wrote:
“We are sorry to share that the Pearl Jam concerts scheduled for Tuesday, July 2nd and Wednesday, July 3rd in Berlin are cancelled. Despite everyone’s best efforts, the band has yet to make a full recovery. The impacts of this decision are not lost on us. We feel deeply that so many people spend their time, money, and emotional energy to get tickets and then to come see the band and it is heart wrenching to have to disappoint you. We also appreciate the many people whose hard work goes into making these shows happen.”
The rockers hope to go back to Berlin for a rescheduled show soon:
“Please trust we never take these decisions lightly and try to do everything possible to show up for you all. We wish a reschedule had been possible for this tour leg and hope to come back to Berlin soon.”
Earlier Health Issues
The announcement didn’t state what the illness was. However, their lead singer Eddie Vedder told the audience that he had caught something after giving high-fives to fans in Dublin during Pearl Jam’s show in Manchester on June 25th.
Pearl Jam’s cancellation in Berlin follows their earlier decision to cancel their London Tottenham Hotspur Stadium show scheduled for June 29th. Their most recent performance was at Manchester’s CO-OP Arena on June 25th.
Eddie Vedder has had to cancel shows in the past due to problems with his voice and throat. In 2022, they had to cancel some gigs because they played outdoors in France during hot weather that caused wildfires.
