The Stanley is taking the thrills and chills of horror to a whole new and surprisingly immersive level this Halloween season. Famous for being the inspiration behind the majestic yet malevolent Overlook in The Shining (1980) and in the 2019 sequel Doctor Sleep, the mammoth hotel in Estes Park, Colorado is joining forces with Blumhouse and Peacock to create four unique movie-themed experiences for fans to enjoy this October. The announcement, courtesy of The Stanley Hotel, reads as follows:
“Check in… if you dare […] This exclusive immersive weekend will give horror fans the chance to step inside the spine-chilling worlds of some of your favorite Blumhouse films. Set against the ominous backdrop of The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO — the very place that inspired Stephen King’s bestselling novel, The Shining — OVERNIGHTMARE will be filled with electrifying scares, interactive activities, shady characters and heart-pounding horror.”
Guests of the Overnightmare at The Stanley can select their rooms, which will offer four different themes based on Blumhouse productions from which to choose from, including Insidious (2010), The Purge (2013), Happy Death Day (2017) and Freaky (2020). Check out the screenshot below to discover more about each event. Note: The more “daggers” listed within each description indicates just how horrifying each experience will be, and each of the four films will also be available to stream on Peacock throughout the month of October.
The Stanley Hotel Is Bringing the Spooky This Halloween

The announcement continues as follows:
“Based on your selection, you will be dragged — we mean, invited — into the world of that film for a fright night you won’t soon forget. Will you survive the relentless evil of Insidious? Face the chaos of The Purge? Step into the twisted fun of Freaky? Or relive the repeating terror of Happy Death Day?”
