You can watch action movie icon Jason Statham take care of business for free this weekend, as one of his biggest sequels is available to stream on one of the lesser-known platforms. The Stath has become well-renowned for flying the flag for old school action fare, with the actor and martial artist demonstrating his particular set of skills in his return as Arthur Bishop in 2016’s Mechanic: Resurrection.
While the Mechanic sequel was not as well-received as its 2011 predecessor, Resurrection still boasts several thrilling action sequences, brutal fight scenes, and some imaginative kills (the high-rise swimming pool being a clear highlight) and you can now watch all of this for free on Freevee, the Prime Video extension that allows users to watch all manner of movies and TV shows for free with ads.
The first The Mechanic, which in turn is a remake of the 1972 film of the same name starring Charles Bronson, has been blowing up on Netflix recently, and no doubt many Statham and action movie fans are eager to tune in to the continuing missions of Bishop. Directed by Dennis Gansel and written by Philip Shelby and Tony Mosher, Mechanic: Resurrection stars Tommy Lee Jones, Jessica Alba and Michelle Yeoh alongside The Stath. You can check out the official synopsis for Mechanic: Resurrection below.
“Living under cover in Brazil, master assassin Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) springs back into action after an old enemy (Sam Hazeldine) kidnaps the woman (Jessica Alba) he loves. To save her life, Bishop must kill an imprisoned African warlord, a human trafficker (Toby Eddington) and an arms dealer (Tommy Lee Jones), all while making the deaths look like accidents. When things don’t go exactly as planned, Bishop turns the tables on the people who forced him out of retirement.”
Will We Ever See Mechanic 3? Who Knows, but The Stath Has Plenty on the Horizon
Mechanic: Resurrection was met with largely negative reviews from critics, and stands at 31% on Rotten Tomatoes compared to the first movie’s 53%. However, it saw huge success at the box office, grossing $125 million worldwide against a budget of $40 million, leaving its predecessor’s $76.3 million.
Currently, there is no word on whether Statham will return for The Mechanic 3, but the action hero does have plenty of other projects in the pipeline. Chief among them is this year’s The Beekeeper, which has already garnered something of a cult following thanks to its wacky plot about a former black ops agent-turned-beekeeper who embarks on a mission of revenge after his friend is scammed. Oh, and the clandestine organization he used to work for is called The Beekeepers.

“Obviously, there’s a great movie there somewhere.”
While we await further news about a possible Beekeeper 2, Statham is all set to reunite with his Expendables co-star Sylvester Stallone, who has penned the script for the action thriller Levon’s Trade. Directed by David Ayer, the movie follows Statham as, you guessed it, an ex-black ops agent who springs back into action and leaves his construction career behind when a local girl vanishes. Levon’s Trade is scheduled to be released in the United States on January 17, 2025.
