Ozzy Osbourne recalled how, back in 1982, he tried to avoid going on tour by shaving his head during a new episode of ‘The Madhouse Chronicles.’
“What you see of Ozzy Osbourne is not so much Ozzy Osbourne. It’s Sharon. I’d walk around in these all day,” he first noted, referring to his wife.
Then, he delved into coming up with a plan to escape intense touring schedules in the 1980s, “I knocked a barber up in Birmingham. I think in Birmingham, and I knocked the door, and he said, ‘We haven’t opened yet.’ I said, ‘I want to shave my head.’ He said, ‘What?’ I said, ‘I want to shave my head.’ ‘Okay.’”
The plan didn’t work, as Osbourne had to get back on the road for the Speak of the Devil Tour shortly after. Also, his wife was not happy with his new look.
Asked about her reaction when she first saw him, Ozzy said, “At my sister’s house. [I walk in and] she goes, ‘Oh.’ Didn’t say a word in front of my sister. She goes, ‘You stupid c*nt.’”
The singer joined a photoshoot for the 13th anniversary of Circus Magazine the next day, as well. Photographer Mark Weiss and Sharon Osbourne painted his head black and used a couple of balloons to complete the shot for the outlet’s October 1982 cover.
