Ke Huy Quan is delivering the pain once again, as the Oscar-winning star of Everything Everywhere All at Once has become an action leading man in the new, John Wick-inspired Love Hurts. The Oscar-winning A24 action/comedy/drama revitalized Quan’s career, and cemented his place as a new staple of the action genre thanks to some awesome fanny-pack fight scenes. The actor is taking those credentials to Love Hurts, a new action flick directed by Jonathan Eusebio.
Ke Huy Quan stars as Marvin, a realtor with a shady and dangerous past. When his former partner in crime tracks him down, Marvin is forced to kick some ass once again to confront his past and protect his new life. Alongside Ke Huy Quan, Love Hurts also stars Ariana DeBose, Daniel Wu, Sean Astin, Lio Tipton, Rhys Darby, Stephanie Sy, and football legend Marshawn Lynch (who was phenomenal in Bottoms). The official synopsis reads:
“A realtor is pulled back into the life he left behind after his former partner-in-crime resurfaces with an ominous message. With his crime-lord brother also on his trail, Marvin must confront his past and the history he never fully buried.”
The first trailer for Love Hurts teased the beautiful action and fight choreography. But, the movie wasn’t just inspired by John Wick, it has one of the franchise’s most important creatives on board. Jonathan Eusebio is making his directorial debut with Love Hurts, after a long career as a stunt performer and fight choreographer. Eusebio has worked on major action movies like Deadpool 2, Violent Night, The Expendables, The Fall Guy, and the first three John Wick movies. He is now bringing his fight choreography experience to the new action comedy.
Ke Huy Quan’s Amazing Career Resurgance
It’s one thing to return to acting after a near two-decade-long break in an acclaimed action comedy. But, to win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for your triumphant return is something else entirely. It wasn’t just Ke Huy Quan who was in tears when he accepted the Academy Award in 2023, as the entire audience was welling up when the actor ended his speech with, “Mom, I just won an Oscar!”

Following the unprecedented win, Ke Huy Quan’s career resurgence has continued strongly.
