The release of the new Bring Me The Horizon album may take a long time.
The band’s frontman Oli Sykes told Loudwire Nights host Chuck Armstrong that he began to hate his job and fell into drugs during the pandemic. Then, he changed his approach, took breaks, and spent time with family and friends. All those helped him start enjoying music again. “We’re still gonna do ‘Post Human,’” Sykes said, referring to his new way of thinking.
The singer added, “But it could be 10 years, you know what I mean … I’m not putting any pressure on it. I’m not. I’m not ruining my own life just to get it out next year or something.”
Bring Me The Horizon’s latest album ‘Post Human: Nex Gen’ arrived on May 24, 2024. This is the second album in their ‘Post Human’ series, following ‘Survival Horror’ from 2020. ‘Nex Gen’ was unexpectedly released in May after several delays.
“That’s an interesting one. This whole record is a proper narrative that actually explains the first record,” Oli previously told NME about ‘Post Human: Nex Gen.’
He then spoke about what might happen next in the album’s story, “I’ve realized that what I’ve been doing for years is building this world in my head and not telling anyone about it. That narrative is going to feed into the next one and I don’t want to give it all away because the way the record ends for me personally is realizing that I’ve got to leave.”
Sykes explained that by ‘leave,’ he means ending relationships, leaving his country, and changing himself. He added about his ideas for the next record, “I’ve got an idea of not only what the next record sounds like but where it is – and it’s not in a good place. But it’s all to play for. It’s going to be four records and this will be that third act – usually where things go south. We’ll see – anything could change.”
The group’s next shows are in Japan on August 17 and 18. Then, they will perform in Malaysia and Indonesia before moving to South America for more gigs.
