Nevada officials are addressing a viral TikTok video that highlights alleged “racist” behavior at a well-known Virginia City event.
The video, which has garnered over 1 million views, was shot outside the Firehouse Saloon during the “Hot August Nights” event on Friday.
In the footage, the man behind the camera claims that another individual at the event told him there was a “hanging tree” nearby “for people like me.” He further alleges that the individual used a racial slur against him.
A heated verbal exchange ensued, with several onlookers seemingly siding with the person accused of making the “racist” remarks.
At one point, a woman emerged from the Firehouse Saloon, instructing the man filming to “leave the property.” He repeatedly asked her not to touch him, to which she responded by saying she loves him and urged him to “calm down.”
In response to the incident, the Storey County Sheriff’s Office released a statement on Facebook, acknowledging the “concerning” reports.
