During a recent appearance on Matt Morgan’s podcast, Noel Gallagher said he’d be really lucky to reach 60 due to his health issues.
“Well, I mean, they’ve got to be pushing, what, 70 now, innit?” the musician shared. “I mean, the way I feel f*cking now, I mean I’ll be f*cking lucky if I make it to 60.”
Then, he compared himself to The Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger and added, “Just because Jagger is mincing around at 103 doesn’t mean everyone can.”
This comes shortly after Gallagher showed his frustration about needing surgery on his ‘bad knee.’ The singer said, “I’ve got bad knees actually. I’ve got to have an operation on my f*cking knee.”
He didn’t explain why he needs surgery, but a source told The Sun, “[He] isn’t happy at all about the fact he needs this knee surgery.” Noel finished his tour with The High Flying Birds, ending on August 4 at Y Not Festival. And then he took time off for surgery.
Gallagher said he didn’t want to live past 75 in a 2022 interview with BBC Radio 1. He noted, “Do I want to live another 50 years? No. Just think how sh*t the world is now. I would rather not live through it. At 75 I want to go.”
In the same interview, Noel also shared a list of things he wants to do before he dies, like making a song with Johnny Marr and meeting Bob Dylan.
The Oasis brothers have been fighting for years, with their last big argument happening at their final concert in Paris in 2009. Fans still hope for a reunion, but the brothers have ignored those rumors. “[I can] make one phone call this afternoon and the world would come to an end. And it’s never going to go away,” Noel told the Athletic in June.
This summer, rumors of an Oasis reunion grew when Liam’s tour led to speculation that Noel might join him. Liam said Noel turned down the chance to reunite.
