In a new chat with Rock Antenne at this year’s Guitar Summit in Mannheim, Germany, Nita Strauss talked about what people don’t really know about Alex Terrible.
“That is absolutely one of the names on my list,” the guitarist replied when the interviewer suggested Slaughter to Prevail vocalist Alex Terrible as a possible guest on her upcoming third solo album. “And we’re on the same label, which is easy-easy. Slaughter to Prevail is on Sumerian with me, so easy. That has already been a conversation.”
“You know what people don’t realize? He actually can sing. Like, he can really sing,” Strauss praised the vocalist. “He’s got an unearthly growl and scream — everybody knows how incredible his metal voice is — but he can sing. Like, he can really sing.”
She continued, “And what I did on my record was I took people to a slightly different place for them, like Alissa White-Gluz [Arch Enemy], who’s such a strong singer, and people didn’t really know how good her clean voice was. What if I can do that for him? What if I can push him someplace slightly different? Or maybe we’ll just write something really heavy and see how that is.”
Strauss’ second solo album ‘The Call of the Void’ came out in 2023. The rocker doesn’t want to wait long for her new record. “I think, on the next record, I just want to go further in both directions,” Nita told Ultimate Guitar’s Justin Beckner in June.
She added, “I would love to do something more mainstream; maybe it’s with someone like Demi [Lovato], which would be a dream come true or somebody like Pink. And then I want to do something heavy because the stuff that I listen to on my own time is pretty heavy.”
“I don’t want to lose the momentum of this one. It was five years between ‘Controlled Chaos’ and ‘Call of the Void.’ I don’t want to wait another five years,” the musician also revealed. “It has been kind of hard to think of any concrete ideas because I’ve been on the road the entire time, literally from the month before the record came out.”
Strauss will be playing her next show on November 14 in Monterrey, Mexico. She will have two more gigs in Mexico on November 15 and 17.
