Nita Strauss and her long-time partner Josh Villalta got married on May 4. The couple talked about their relationship and wedding during a recent interview with Loudwire.
Strauss mentioned a customized Metallica item from their ceremony when asked for advice for those planning a heavy metal-themed wedding:
“Make sure you leave enough time to customize things. Because some of the custom stuff takes a while to get there. But you know, we had a custom cake server that says ‘Josh and Nita, Nothing Else Matters’ on it. That kind of stuff.”
She added:
“You can get the coolest and most interesting things customized and made exactly for you. You do not have to get any wedding stuff. Don’t feel like just because it’s a traditional wedding thing that you have to do it the traditional way.”
The ‘Heavy Metal Dream Wedding’
Strauss and manager Villalta’s wedding took place at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. Guests included bandmates Alice Cooper and Chuck Garric as well as Disturbed’s David Draiman, John Moyer, and Demi Lovato with their partners.
The event held a ‘Haute Dracula’ vibe with its deep red, green, black, and jewel-toned color palette. The guitarist shared about the wedding planning:
“[We wanted] the wedding to feel like ‘us.’ We didn’t want a cookie-cutter ceremony or reception that you could see in any bridal magazine — we wanted every aspect of the day and the experience to reflect us as a couple.”
Draiman added to the atmosphere by covering Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman’ during the ceremony.
