Mötley Crüe won’t be releasing a new album soon.
The band’s bassist Nikki Sixx recently sat down with Riff X’s Metal XS and talked about what the band will be doing in the next few months. He said:
“We’re just playing festivals, and that takes us into October. We don’t have any plans next year yet. I know there’s some conversations about stuff. I mean, we have a few singles [already recorded], so I don’t see us [recording any new music right now]… We’re not gonna be around.”
Mötley Crüe Members Live In Different Places
Sixx went on to explain why it is hard for them to come together:
“I live in Wyoming and Vince [Neil, Crüe singer] lives in Tennessee, two guys in California, so I don’t… I don’t actually see a reason right now to go in the studio, ’cause we’ve got two more singles [recorded and ready] to [release]. And I always wanna be sure that if we go in the studio, we have a reason or we have something we’re really inspired by, but it’s a lot of scheduling, and we tour and we have families.”
The rocker kept the door open for new music but not soon:
“For me specifically, I have a five-year-old daughter, and I really wanna be with her as much as possible. So when the time came to go do these demos of these three songs and then go in the studio with [producer] Bob Rock, it was like a perfect time. And that time will happen again, but there’s no rush.”
Vince Neil’s Statements On A New Mötley Crüe Effort
Last month, singer Vince Neil also confirmed his bandmate by saying that they don’t plan to release a new record. Neil said the following in an interview with Loudwire Nights:
“I don’t think you’re gonna see a full-length album at any time. It’s easier now just to do a few songs at a time and release ’em in the right ways. Albums don’t exist anymore. With the MTV generation, you’d go to a record store and you’d find your favorite songs and your album and you’d buy the album, and you’d watch it on MTV and you can see your favorite bands. Now there’s a billion ways [to consume music] — streaming services and all those things.”
Neil also said albums aren’t as important now because people don’t listen to all the songs. He mentioned that they now focus on writing individual songs to be heard. Mötley Crüe released their new single, ‘Dogs of War,’ on April 26 and signed a new contract with Big Machine Records.
