Nikki Sixx is a guest on the new Crossbone Skully song ‘High On You.’
“Laid bass down on this song. It’s a rocker… If you love AC/DC, you’re gonna love [it],” the Mötley Crüe bassist wrote on his Instagram story while announcing the track.
‘High On You’ is a song about being deeply in love, and features a big, catchy chorus. The song’s artwork, created by Mark Wilkinson, known for work with Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, references ‘Crossbone Skully,’ the main character in a story created by the band’s founder, Tommy Henriksen.
His story is told in Crossbone Skully’s debut album ‘Evil World Machine,’ coming out on November 22. The story will also continue in a graphic novel and an animated film called ‘Thing #1,’ which will be released in 2025 and will feature voiceovers by Sixx.
“Crossbone Skully is doing something visually unique while blending kicka** riffs and great songwriting with this project,” Sixx also said in a statement. “I’m excited for them and can’t wait for everyone to experience it.”
“‘High On You’ shows the taste of young, pure love…the type that gets you hooked on the bug! Love is an everlasting drug!” Henriksen also shared about the track.
‘Evil World Machine’ was produced by the famous Robert John ‘Mutt’ Lange, who came out of retirement for this project. The album is a rock concept album that shares themes with David Bowie’s ‘Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars’ and ‘Diamond Dogs.’
Henriksen gathered many musicians for the album, including guitarist Tommy Denander, keyboardist Jamie Muhoberac, bassist Chris Wyse, drummer Glen Sobel, the late UFO bassist Pete Way, mixer Olle Romo, and producer/mixer Mike Plotnikoff.
The album features spoken-word parts from famous people. Johnny Depp voices ‘The Sorcerer.’ Alice Cooper plays ‘The Bringer Of Light,’ Joe Perry is ‘Big Bad Bone Crusher,’ Sixx is ‘The Crooked Crow,’ and Kane Roberts is ‘Alpha Watchman.’
