Nikki Sixx is tired of being involved in negative things about Mötley Crüe.
The bassist recently joined an interview with Janne Innanfors of the Swedish radio station Rockklassiker and reflected on how the media took his joke about their new music sounding like a mix of country and hip-hop seriously. He said they didn’t fact-check the claim and added:
“People just love negativity. And I find it interesting. I don’t wanna play in to it, to be honest with you, but that was a fun one… People run with whatever they think they can get some juice out of, and it’s okay. Hey, if you’re talking about our band, that’s a good thing, negative or positive.”
Nikki’s Earlier Words On New Mötley Crüe Music
In April, Sixx shared an update on X about Mötley Crüe’s upcoming album, writing:
“New Crüe coming up right around the corner. People who have heard it say it’s a powerful cross between country and hip-hop.”
After the comments on the media, the rocker clarified that it wasn’t what people expected. He wrote on X:
“Media running with a joke about new Motley Crue music just shows how they can be unprofessional and irresponsible. But they probably just saw an opportunity for clickbait to sell ads. This stuff always makes me laugh…”
He also described the new album’s sound:
“Anyway. Our new music is actually kinda reggae EDM. But with a bit of Dylan.”
Mötley Crüe Won’t Release A New Record
After all these comments, everyone was expecting a new album from Mötley Crüe but they just released the single, ‘Dogs of War.’ More recently, Sixx said they don’t plan to work on a new record:
“We’re just playing festivals, and that takes us into October. We don’t have any plans next year yet. I know there’s some conversations about stuff. I mean, we have a few singles [already recorded], so I don’t see us [recording any new music right now]… We’re not gonna be around.”
Sixx also explained that it’s hard for the band to get together because they live in different states and have busy schedules. They have two singles ready to release and only want to record new music if they are really inspired.
