Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason opened up about his bandmates during a new interview with World In Your Ear.
During their chat, Mason mentioned that the chances of him performing with his bandmates are slim, and he feels that David Gilmour might not be too keen on the idea. Apparently, the idea came up because Roger had already joined him on stage in the past. When asked if Waters ever commented about their latest New York show, Mason responded:
“Not really but I think he’s certainly in communication with Guy [Pratt] on it and certainly it’s not disapproval. That would be very it would be great if he’d come on and do something but I think after Roger did it he probably felt that he didn’t want to follow on.”
He was also asked if people would see him, Roger Waters and David Gilmour on stage together again.
“I would have thought unlikely and that’s part of the reason why eventually gave up saying unlikely but maybe into unlikely but I’ll go out on my own anyway.”
Mason’s Thoughts On Reuniting
Last year, Mason said he was open for a Pink Floyd reunion.
The drummer mentioned that he was ‘tempted to make himself available’ for any potential future Pink Floyd reunion. The band made the headlines after Roger Waters revealed plans to re-record the hit album ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ for its 50th anniversary but without his former bandmates.
In response, Mason talked about the re-record of the album in an interview with The Sun:
“[Waters] actually sent me a copy of what he was working on and I write to him and said, ‘Annoyingly, it’s absolutely brilliant!’ It was and is. It’s not anything that would be a spoiler for the original at all, it’s an interesting add-on to the thing.”
He said of the possibility of a reunion:
“You never know what will be thrown up. I’m tempted to say I’m available for anything.”
