The wait for Venom: The Last Dance is almost over, but that hasn’t stopped Sony from releasing a spoiler-filled TV spot. The upcoming sequel, starring Tom Hardy, is being billed as the last installment in the superhero franchise, but it continues to tease one of Marvel’s most powerful villains. The new footage confirms a major plot point involving Knull, revealing his true intentions behind invading Earth to go after Eddie Brock and Venom.
The Venom: The Last Dance TV spot surfaced online earlier this week, with brand-new footage that unveils Knull (rumored to be Andy Serkis) imprisoned in his own symbiote-infested world. He is noticeably holding on to his iconic All-Black sword, glowing orange at the handle. Meanwhile, Venom is heard explaining to Eddie that his home has found them, and that his creator needs a “data key” in order to be set free. It’s not revealed how or why, but it’s confirmed Eddie and Venom are in possession of said key and that’s why Knull sends alien creatures to Earth to capture it.
Fortunately, the latest footage does not spoil the film’s ending or anything of the sort. However, for those who wanted to go in blind, Venom: The Last Dance is making sure you know how big of a deal Knull will be in the sequel and in potential future projects. Sony is clearly betting big on the Marvel Comics villain, who is rumored to form part of another crossover film featuring everyone’s favorite webbed hero.
Venom 3 is Just the Start for Knull
Tom Hardy may have recently said “That’s all she wrote,” but it does not seem the Venom franchise is leaving anytime soon. Venom: The Last Dance director Kelly Marcel talked about Knull and his potential future beyond his live-action debut later this week. Although Marcel continues the sentiment that Eddie and Venom’s storyline ends in The Last Dance, the film is just a small taste of what’s to come for other symbiote characters.
“This is just the introduction to Knull. He’s a massive, massive character so you can never be one-and-done with him. This is just a little taster of Knull. We get to meet him. What the future holds for him, who knows. The plot for Eddie and Venom closes here. But as you know, there are lots of symbiote stories in the canon. There are lots of places to go, and maybe there are a few Easter eggs in here that might start that journey off.”

Tom Hardy expressed a great desire to fight Spider-Man, hinting at a potential Venom-Spidey crossover in the future.
Every official indication points to Venom: The Last Dance living up to its name, but rumors point to the anti-hero finally crossing over to another universe. The film, which has a 110-minute runtime, allegedly includes two post-credits scenes that further tease Knull and a potential connection with the MCU. Let There Be Carnage had Eddie and Venom find out about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, but never substantial came of it. However, given the grave threat that Knull poses, who is deemed an Avengers-level adversary, he could force a long-awaited crossover between Spider-Man and Venom.
Venom 3 is the third and final installment in Sony’s symbiote trilogy starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. It follows the events of Let There Be Carnage, where the anti-hero fought serial killer Cletus Kasady, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Brock was briefly transported to the MCU through the multiverse.
