Mötley Crüe recently announced a new three-song EP titled ‘Cancelled.’ Lindsay C. from This Day In Metal criticized the upcoming record on X.
“Mötley Crüe just need to stop now instead of completely destroying their legacy,” she wrote.
Some fans agreed with the journalist’s comment with one sharing, “Agreed! I’m a fan, but they definitely need to stop.”
“I love The Crüe and all, but I have no idea why they’re even still touring,” another added. “They haven’t released an album since ‘Saints [of Los Angeles],’ in ‘08. They let Mick [Mars] go. Don’t understand them.”
The band recorded three songs for the new EP produced by Bob Rock: ‘Dogs of War,’ ‘Cancelled,’ and a cover of Beastie Boys’ ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!).’
“It was really great getting in the studio and working on some tracks together,” their recent statement read. “What started out as a couple demo ideas turned into this EP produced by Bob Rock. We look forward to getting back into the studio again soon and writing more new music, as well.”
Mötley Crüe debuted ‘Fight For Your Right’ during an exclusive show for 450 fans at the Underworld in London on June 30, 2023. ‘Dogs of War’ later arrived as a single in the spring of 2024.
The band’s first single since 2019 also received mixed reactions from fans. “We like the fact that there was kind of a knee-jerk reaction because at least people were listening,” Nikki Sixx replied to them in a chat with Rockklassiker.
“Within a short amount of time, we get, ‘We love it.’ ‘We hate it.’ ‘You’re over.’ ‘You’ve reinvented yourself.’ ‘It sounds like ‘Shout At The Devil.’ ‘It sucks.’ And we just kind of sit there and go, ‘That’s cool, guys, but we didn’t really ask for any input from you.’ We’re just artists writing music, and we’re pretty cool. I’m happy with it. I like it.”
‘Cancelled’ will be released through Big Machine Records on October 4.
