A new favorite for the next James Bond has emerged…and he’s a real gentleman. According to the British gambling company, William Hill, Kick-Ass and Kraven the Hunter star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is still the odds-on favorite to take over the iconic role from Daniel Craig following his swansong in No Time to Die, but another actor, The Gentlemen and The White Lotus star Theo James is slowly creeping up behind him.
Taylor-Johnson, who has been a betting favorite for the role for some time, with various reports and rumors claiming that he has had meetings about taking over as 007, is currently priced at 11/10 to win the role of James Bond. James, who is also known for the likes of The Inbetweeners Movie, the Divergent series, How It Ends, and the upcoming Stephen King horror movie The Monkey, has now shot up the rankings from 12/1 odds to a far more likely 5/2.
A spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, has explained the reasons how and why Theo James has leaped up the James Bond favorites list (via GB News), believing that it is likely because of his leading role in Netflix’s crime series The Gentlemen, in which he stars as aristocrat Edward “Eddie” Horniman, who, after inheriting his family’s estate, discovers it’s hiding an enormous weed empire.
“The search for the next James Bond is hotting up and we have seen a lot of support for British actor Theo James, who has narrowed from as big as 12/1 into 5/2 second favourite. Being preceded by Aaron Taylor-Johnson who has been as short as 2/5 to step into 007’s shoes, but has now drifted to 11/10 in the market.
James may well have caught the eye of executives with his performance in The Gentleman.”
Who Are the Other 007 Favorites?
Alongside Theo James and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the other top choices to slip into a tux and take over as James Bond include Gladiator 2 star and Oscar-nominee Paul Mescal, Masters of the Air and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore star Callum Turner, and Happy Valley actor James Norton.
Of course, several A-list names continue to hover around the role, including Venom star Tom Hardy, MCU actor Idris Elba, and Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy. New research, however, claims that a major fan-favorite is now the top choice. According to new data from Betway Casino, Man of Steel star Henry Cavill is back in the running based on analysis of “Google searches, articles, article engagement and Reddit mentions for 31 potential actors” reportedly being considered or discussed for the role.

At present, we still do not know who will take over as James Bond moving forward, or what the studio plans to do with the franchise following the end of No Time to Die. Daniel Craig’s final outing saw the character do something he has never done before – die – with fans left wondering whether the 007 series will begin again with an origin story, take the franchise back in time, or simply ignore what happened and tell a standalone tale as the franchise used to do.
