Neil Young and Crazy Horse have canceled the remaining dates of their Love Earth Tour because of illness.
Young posted on the band’s website that they had a great time on tour but some band members fell ill after the last show, so they need to stop touring for now:
“The Love Earth Tour has been a great experience for us so far. GREAT AUDIENCES AND MUSIC. WE HAVE HAD A BLAST! When a couple of us got sick after Detroit’s Pine Knob, we had to stop. We are still not fully recovered, so sadly our great tour will have a big unplanned break.”
The Band Apologized To The Fans
The statement continued:
“We will try to play some of the dates we miss as time passes when we are ready to rock again! We know many of you made travel plans and we apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for your understanding and patience. Health is #1. We want to stay and do more shows and more albums for you…and for us. With love and thanks to all of you from Crazy Horse… Neil, Micah, Ralph, and Billy. Love Earth.”
The announcement affects seven shows in Canada and three in the U.S., including performances at the Ohana Festival in Dana Point, California, and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
Young Wants To Be Cautious About Indoor Gatherings
Before starting the Love Earth tour in April, Young said he chose to play only outdoor events due to health reasons. The singer stated:
“We gotta be careful. I imagine if you look at a regular group of 15,000 or 20,000 people, just randomly… then look at 15,000 or 20,000 people that all went to a show, and how many of them got Covid, I think you’d find people that went to a show inside have a lot more of a chance of getting sick. I don’t really need to do that. Willie Nelson told me he’s only playing outside now. I felt that was a good idea, so that’s what I’m doing.”
The Love Earth Tour started on April 24 at the Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre in San Diego, California. Crazy Horse guitarist Nils Lofgren couldn’t join because he was committed to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, so Micah Nelson filled in for him.
