Journey guitarist Neal Schon took to X to respond to Elon Musk’s political stance.
Musk posted a tweet about the US elections between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. He wrote:
“Why hasn’t Joe Biden dropped from the race yet?”
In response, Schon wrote:
“Donald wants to veer away from electric cars. What do you think about that?”
Schon’s Political Stance Against Journey Members
Schon made his political stance clear over the years. In fact, his views affected the band as well.
Neal Schon’s lawyer wrote to Jonathan Cain, Journey’s keyboardist. The lawyer warned him to stop appearing at events for former President Donald J. Trump as ‘Journey’ and performing their songs there. The letter argued that Cain’s actions were harming the band’s image.
The lawyer acknowledged Cain’s right to personal beliefs but insisted that when he represents Journey, it’s damaging. The letter also highlighted that Journey should stay out of politics and worries about the impact on their tours.
It pointed to an event where Cain played Journey’s song ‘Don’t Stop Believin” at the America First Experience Gala at Mar-a-Lago, attended by people such as Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and Donald Trump.
However, Schon doesn’t keep it in the band. In an interview, he was asked how he continues to work with Cain regardless of their different political views. He said:
“I think that everybody is entitled to their opinion or what they think is correct for themselves. None of us ever agree — not just Jon, but many other people that I know. So I keep my political views to myself.”
