Overpriced concert tickets became a point of discussion once again following My Chemical Romance’s 2025 North American stadium tour announcement. Previously, similar backlash was directed at Oasis, accusing them of ripping fans off with their high-priced reunion tour.
My Chemical Romance confirmed the summer tour celebrating their 2006 album, ‘The Black Parade,’ with opening bands like Violent Femmes, Alice Cooper, and Evanescence, earlier this week.
Tickets went on sale yesterday causing disappointment among fans due to high prices and issues with bots buying up tickets to sell them at inflated figures on secondary markets.
The prices on Ticketmaster ranged from $63.50 to $695 (£50.30-£550.58), prompting a fan to write on X, “$695 is nasty work! Count your days, My Chemical Romance!”
“I love My Chemical Romance, and I don’t judge anybody for complying, but no way in hell will I ever be willing or able to pay 700 bucks for a show,” another one noted.
Later into the sale, the ticket prices kept increasing, as people suggested the band was using dynamic pricing and changing tags based on demand. The option is said to be controlled by the musicians.
Ticketmaster previously faced an investigation on the matter in the U.K. when Oasis ticket prices doubled shortly after going on sale. At the time, Liam Gallagher said that the band had no control over pricing.
