Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready continued to play although he fell off the stage.
The incident happened during the band’s show at Rogers Arena in Vancouver on May 4. Pearl Jam was playing their final song, ‘Porch,’ when the guitarist lost his balance. They would then finish the gig with their encore part.
McCready was playing guitar when he accidentally stepped off the stage. In a video filmed by a fan, it looks like he’s trying to walk down to a lower part of the stage but misses the steps. He disappears from view but keeps playing his guitar without missing a beat. Someone from the crew helps him back up.
Despite the fall, the rocker seemed fine and continued moving around the stage for the rest of the song ‘Porch.’ He even came back for the encore, which had eight songs. Pearl Jam performed again at Rogers Arena in Vancouver the following night.
McCready’s Words On The New Pearl Jam Album
During the first night of their tour, Pearl Jam focused a lot on their latest album, ‘Dark Matter.’ They played the album’s first four songs in a row and a total of nine out of the 11 tracks from ‘Dark Matter.’ McCready previously said the following about the band’s new record:
“It’s a lot heavier than you’d expect. There’s the melody and energy of the first couple of records. Andrew pushed us to play as hard and, melodic and thoughtful as we’ve done in a long time. I feel like Matt Cameron’s drumming has elements of what he did in Soundgarden. For better or worse, you’re gonna hear a lot more lead guitar from me, stuff I haven’t done in a long time.”
Pearl Jam dropped ‘Dark Matter’ on April 19. After performing in Canada, the band will head towards different cities of the United States to promote their latest record. They will be touring through the summer and the fall. Their last scheduled concert right now is on November 21 in Sydney, Australia.
