News of Tina Turner’s passing at the age of 83 after a prolonged illness led to an outpouring of heartfelt tributes from many artists, including the Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, Paul Stanley of KISS, and Sting on social media.
Mick Jagger, who performed a duet with Turner during the Live Aid concert in 1985, shared a photograph of himself and the late singer performing together on stage and wrote on Twitter:
“I’m so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner. She was truly an enormously talented performer and singer. She was inspiring, warm, funny, and generous. She helped me so much when I was young, and I will never forget her.”
Paul Stanley also took to Twitter to share his condolences, saying:
“RIP Tina Turner – What a voice. What a life. What a loss.”
Sting joined the chorus of mourners on Instagram, posting a message alongside a photograph of himself and Turner:
“Beautiful Tina, no one like her, simply the best.”
The Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale also shared his tribute on Twitter, writing:
“Beloved Tina… Simply the best… Loving thoughts to Erwin, her family, friends & fans… A very beautiful & gifted soul… Loved her dearly…”
Angela Bassett, who portrayed Turner in the film ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It,’ and earned an Oscar nomination for her role, and other prominent figures such as Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, Ronnie Wood, Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins, Roberta Flack, and Debbie Harry of Blondie also honored the spirit of the Queen of Rock and Roll with messages on their social media accounts.
