Stryper has both good and bad news for fans.
The good news is, the band is releasing a new record. The bad news is, Michael Sweet is a little concerned about his voice. The frontman shared details about the album on his Instagram account with a lengthy announcement. He wrote for the good news:
“An update on the new Stryper album. I’ve completed the lead vocals and now I’ll spend the next few days writing and arranging my guitar solos. Then we’ll begin final mixing and mastering will be completed by 4/20.”
He then shared the bad news:
“I must admit that I was a little nervous about my voice but in all sincerity, it seems fine to me. I didn’t have any trouble tracking vocals and if anything, it seemed a little easier this time around.”
Sweet shared some more good news. As it appears, this next album is very special for him:
“I have to say that this album has a very special signature. It has a heaviness yet at the same time, a very melodic approach and a bit more of a ‘sing-along’ style when it comes to the choruses. I’m really pleased with the results and I truly believe it will be at the top of everyone’s ‘best of’ list. There are some stand out tracks to my ears already but I won’t go into details quite yet. Bottom line, a killer new Stryper album is coming! Stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted.”
Stryper Plans To Return To ‘Pop Metal’ Sound
Stryper released their latest album, ‘The Final Battle’ in October 2022. Since then, the band has been busy with recording new music.
Before this recent post, the singer shared on Instagram that the band would get back to their ‘pop metal’ sound. Sweet wrote:
“We want to branch out a bit and try some new things and I also want to get back to some ‘pop metal’ on a few tracks as well. The new album will be recorded in January/February and then I will finish vocals/solos and we will mix it when we return from The Holy Land Tour in Late February/March.”
There are no details about the album’s name or when it will be out.
Fans Thought ‘The Final Battle’ Was Their Final Album
It’s usual for fans to think that way considering the album title. Sweet clarified the speculation that their 2022 album would be their last. He told The Spokesman-Review last year:
“A lot of people assume that because of the title of the album that it’s our last album and that this is our last tour. But it’s not our final anything.”
Sweet also said Stryper doesn’t plan to ‘hang it up,’ and their final tour would not be like those that claim it’s their last tour when it’s not. So it’s safe to say that the rockers still have a long road to go.
