In a new interview with Metal Hammer, Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo picked the ‘greatest’ Ozzy Osbourne song for an ultimate Osbourne playlist.
The bassist picked the title track from the rocker’s 1981 album ‘Diary Of A Madman.’ “There are so many incredible songs you can relate to Ozzy, but if we go just for his solo career and pick stand-outs, I would pick one that I’ve actually had the good fortune of playing with him on two occasions,” Trujillo explained his pick.
“‘Diary Of A Madman’ for me is just one of the most complete songs in hard rock and metal – it’s incredibly dynamic in terms of the way it grooves and builds really well,” he continued. “It’s a beautiful song, and I’m so happy we got to play it, because when it comes to picking songs for live, Ozzy wants to be very comfortable with what he’s doing, so it was a special moment for me when we did that.”
In addition to the Metallica bassist, names like Tom Morello, Kerry King, Lzzy Hale, and Osbourne himself picked songs from the rocker’s catalog to celebrate his solo induction into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.
Osbourne is currently getting ready for his upcoming solo induction. The ceremony will be streamed live on Disney+ on October 19th and will include tributes from Maynard James Keenan, Jack Black, Billy Idol, and others. This will be the singer’s second induction since his previous induction with Black Sabbath in 2006.
