Maynard James Keenan recently told the Los Angeles Times that he wants to work with Dolly Parton.
When asked if there are any artists he would like to collaborate, the Tool singer replied:
“Dolly Parton… Not gonna happen.”
The Rocker Collaborated With Many Artists
In a previous question, Keenan also named some names he had worked with before:
“I have done other things with other people. I have collaborated on albums. I just did a little collaboration with Night Club that just came out. I sang in one of the first tracks with Emily [Kavanaugh] and Mark [Brooks]. So you know, there are things out there. Some stuff with Deftones years ago, Rage Against the Machine. … I did work with [Primus drummer] Tim [Alexander], but I just haven’t actually worked with Les [Claypool, Primus’ singer-bassist].”
Lustmord Speaks About Working With Maynard
Another musician Maynard collaborated with is Lustmord. He talked about how it was to get together with Keenan in an interview with Revolver, explaining:
“It must have been about 2005, 2006. To be honest with you, that’s how much of an impression he [Keenan] made on me. Well, I knew who he was, obviously, because of Tool, and we knew the same people. After working with Maynard for Tool and Puscifer and hearing his voice isolated… I knew he would be perfect for that album of mine because ‘The Word as Power’ was an album of vocals. So, I thought he would be perfect for it, but I wasn’t going to ask him because, like, hell, he gets asked all the time for that sh*t, and it’s sleazy, you know what I mean?”
While Keenan wants to work with Parton at some point in his career, Wolfgang Van Halen named the vocalist the artist he would like to collaborate with before his performance at Download Festival 2023.
