In a recent chat with Chaoszine, ex-Sepultura, and current Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera talked about why he officially launched an Instagram. He mentioned how he teamed up with his wife and manager, Gloria Cavalera, even though he doesn’t use a cellphone. He explained:
“As much as I wanted to stay away from it, because — I like it, but I don’t let it be the only thing in my life. That’s why I don’t have a cell phone. I’m one of the few people in the world that don’t have a cell phone. And I feel very free about that, because when I go to eat at a restaurant, I wanna talk to my friends. I wanna sit down at a table and talk to people, not stare at some machine. I think that’s ridiculous, when people are in a restaurant and they are sitting across each other and they don’t talk to each other. It’s f*cking sad.”
How Bad Reviews Help Cavalera
He might not be using a phone, but he uses his wife’s phone to read hate comments to perform a better show. He explained how it affects his mood:
“I always did this — even back in the day, in the Sepultura days before Internet. I would read bad reviews so I get real pissed off and have a good show. So now I kind of do the same. I tell her like, ‘Show me some people talking sh*t.’ So she gives me the phone, and there’s all these people talking sh*t. And I read it, and I go on the stage and I f*ck shit up. It’s ammunition. It’s gasoline for the fire.”
What Cavalera Shares On Instagram
Cavalera launched his Instagram account back in March and shared a portrait as his first post, which is now his profile picture. The frontman shares snippets from his life and from his music career in his account.
The rocker recently shared a picture with his mother from his childhood. The singer’s mother, Vania Cavalera, passed away last year on July 5. Cavalera wrote under the post:
“Fly free, Mamina. You will always be with me.”
