Matthew Broderick, known for his role in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and for voicing adult Simba in The Lion King, has been married to Sarah Jessica Parker, the star of Sex and the City, since 1997. In a recent appearance on This Life of Mine with James Corden on Sirius XM, Broderick candidly discussed his acting career and revealed why he never made a guest appearance on the hugely popular HBO series, where his wife starred as Carrie Bradshaw. In the interview, Broderick explained how delighted he would have been to be a part of the hit HBO show but the timing just never worked out.
Whenever there was a part that I could do, I couldn’t do it is really all that happened. But also sometimes, it was like, ‘Do you want to do two days as the premature ejaculator?’ And I’d be like, ‘You know, I don’t know, it’s just kind of embarrassing.’
The actor also emphasized his desire to let the show remain Parker’s domain because she clearly was significant to the success of Sex and the City. He elaborated by saying that it “was her thing, and that would be stunting me or something, I don’t know. It just never work worked out. I love that show and I would have been delighted to be in it, but it just never lined up right.”
Created by Darren Star and based on Candace Bushnell’s book, Sex and the City revolutionized television with its gratifying exploration of female friendships, relationships in your 30s, and modern-day dilemmas. The show ran from 1998 to 2004, following which it spawned two successful movies and a sequel series, And Just Like That. The series is currently gearing up for its third season.
Sex and the City Had A Sparkling Cameo Collection
Long-running TV shows often benefit from guest appearances by renowned actors. These cameos are brief, but they add a layer of excitement and freshness to the series and draw audiences in to witness their favorite stars take on new roles.
