Welcome to The Blueprint, where we break down the celebrity looks we want to wear right now and build them back up, piece by piece.
Martha Stewart has been wearing one color and one color only. Is it that sweet? We think so. (Yes, it’s espresso.)
The media mogul just shared photos on Instagram from her book tour promoting Martha: The Cookbook, and we couldn’t help but notice the detail that linked all of her outfits: a dark brown palette.
A friend who peeked in my Béis carry-on (which is also brown) on a recent Mexico trip noted how I only packed, well, espresso-hued clothes. Stewart is onto something about the earthy tone being the fall “it color.” And pairing it with other seasonal staples like oversized cardigan sweaters and trousers? Genius.
If you want to pep up your fall closet, keep scrolling to find espresso cardigans, trousers, and booties inspired by the star’s recent looks.

Dyexces Oversized Cardigan
Stewart isn’t the only famous fan of brown cardigans — in September, Reese Witherspoon was also spotted in the fall-ready style. This sweater looks so similar to Stewart’s, and it’s on sale for just $35. The oversized silhouette and open-front design make it easy to layer over T-shirts and long-sleeve tops.
One shopper wrote that they were “impressed” with the quality and called the cable knit fabric “soft to the touch.”
Abercrombie & Fitch Quinn Tailored Pant
We love a good pair of fall jeans but if you want something different (and still comfy), try trousers like this pair from Abercrombie & Fitch. I like how the pleated front dresses them up and that they have functional side pockets. The straight-leg cut is timeless and easy to match with blouses, sweaters, and blazers. In addition to espresso, you can snag them in four other shades including oatmeal, indigo, black, and gray.
Jeossy Ankle Boots
I don’t know about you, but I live in booties come fall and winter. They’re practical and still look good — and, on a related note, I think I need to ditch my staple black pair for this dark brown option at Amazon. They have side zippers to make getting ready a breeze, memory foam insoles that cushion your feet, and even a small heel to give you some lift.
It’s official — espresso is the only color I’ll be wearing from here on out. Get in on the trend with more cardigans, trousers, and booties inspired by Martha Stewart below.
