Mandy Moore is in a new beauty era.
The actress, singer-songwriter and mom of two (with another child on the way!), says at 40, she’s “firmly landed in the camp of less is more.”
Also influencing her current philosophy: “being a mom and sort of really harried and busy,” Moore tells PEOPLE.
“Normally my morning routine is I wake up at 5 or 5:30 a.m. and I try to be ready before the boys get up. They’re early risers, too,” she says. She shares sons Augustus “Gus,” 3, and Oscar “Ozzie,” 19 months with husband Taylor Goldsmith.
“I shower, [apply] all of my lotions and potions, get dressed, make breakfast and lunch. I get everything situated so I can hit the ground running [when they wake up].”
Moore’s goal is to make it easier to get ready every morning. That means “simplifying my routine,” she says. “I want multi-use products. Things that I can put on in the morning and not have to worry about all day.”
That realization has led the star to collab with skin-and-body care brand Eucerin.
“I’m so excited to partner with [the brand]. I’ve been a fan of the brand’s body lotions forever. But now that they have face products and they have sun care, they have all the things you need from head to toe. That’s something that I’m very into,” Moore says.
Her favorites: Eucerin Immersive Hydration Boost Serum and Tinted Sensitive Mineral Face Lotion. “I love and use the serum every day,” Moore says.

The sunscreen, with its tint, doubles as coverage. “It eliminates having to think about foundation and put makeup on. Those are the kinds of steps that I’m looking to skip in my life nowadays.”
This year, Eucerin is encouraging consumers to expect more from their skincare regimens by seeking out innovative and effective formulas that keep regimens easy.
The campaign is a concept that resonates with Moore.
“The last 10, 15 years, I’ve really had a heightened sense of awareness of expecting more from a routine, and expecting more from the products that I’m using, and recognizing what an impact long-term it will sort of have on my skin,” she says.
“I’ve always been a fan of products. Maybe that’s just because, since a very young age, I’ve been in [the entertainment] business and had the privilege and luxury of having really talented artists to help me on set, so it’s been burned into my consciousness just how much fun all of this stuff could be,” Moore continues.
“But, when you’re a young person, you’re not as concerned with having a routine and you’re just not concerned with aging. Once I started to come into that point in my life where I saw fine lines and the first signs of aging, things started to matter. I was like, ‘Oh, I need to tighten it up.’”
Moore says if she could tell her younger self anything about skin care it would be to prioritize it earlier — especially sun protection.
“I grew up in Florida. I was a sun baby. I wasn’t concerned about being out in the sun. So for me, [it would have been] protecting yourself so you don’t have to think about sun damage down the road.”
When you do choose to start on your skincare journey, the actress says it’s all about “finding the things that work for you, and that make you feel good and like the best version of yourself.”

These days, Moore says she feels like her best self “when I’m taking the best care of myself, and that just looks different on a daily basis.”
“I am getting sleep, if I’m drinking water, if I’m eating well, if I’m moving my body, if things feel particularly not stressful at home and everything’s good with the family, I feel like it all just shows itself in what you present to the world,” she says.
“So that’s when I feel my best, and there’s some sort of combination of those things happening, hopefully, all at the same time, not necessarily all at once, but so I’ll take it when I can get it.”
