In a new episode of Dumb Blonde, Machine Gun Kelly opened up about his relationship with his mom and shared his regret of exposing her secrets in one of his songs. He said:
“I would like to say for the record I love my mom dearly and I misrepresented her a lot early in my career. And not misrepresented in the sense of not speaking truth. I was speaking my truth, but I didn’t give the masses the chance to understand her truth.”
Where MGK’s Pain Comes From
Kelly’s pain came from his mother not trying to find him after she left when he was young. This was caused by years of being apart. He says of being separated from her:
“You gotta get to me… come f*cking find me no matter what it takes.”
He talked about these feelings in his 2019 song ‘Burning Memories,’ the one song that exposed his mother’s secrets. The rocker said in the lyrics:
“How’d you leave your only child at nine for another dude? / All the years that you ignore me left me sleepless in the bed / I hope daddy got some kids because your only son is dead / I spent 20 years waiting on the stairs / Now I’m finished thinking anyone’ll ever hear these prayers.”
Reuniting With His Mother
Kelly and his mother made up in 2021. The rocker and his mother made a post on Instagram in 2022. MGK wrote in the caption:
“Introducing my mom.”
