After the addition of Emily Armstrong to the band, Linkin Park is releasing their next single soon.
The new single is called ‘Heavy Is The Crown,’ and it will be released as the League Of Legends World Championship Anthem this week.
“It’s been an amazing experience partnering with Riot to bring this anthem to the global League of Legends community,” Mike Shinoda announced. “The song is a real highlight of this new era for us, harnessing our signature sound and infusing it with fresh energy. We’re so excited for players and fans to experience this!”
Rumors about a possible collaboration between League of Legends and Linkin Park have been around since earlier this month when the band announced their comeback with a new album, ‘From Zero.’ This followed an interaction with the LoL Esports social media account.
However, hopes for a partnership between Riot Games and the band date back to 2021 when Mike Shinoda was recognized at the premiere of Netflix’s League of Legends series, ‘Arcane.’ Since Shinoda is a big fan of Riot’s first-person shooter game, Valorant, many thought a collaboration might happen.
On Sunday, Linkin Park surprised fans by giving a sneak peek of the 2024 Worlds anthem when they performed ‘Heavy Is the Crown’ live at their Hamburg concert. The track features two rap verses by Shinoda and a chorus by Armstrong. Many fans thought it resembled the band’s classic sound from hits like ‘In the End’ and ‘Faint.’ The lyrics talk about ‘fighting until sunrise’ and opponents waving ‘white flags when the war begins.’
‘Heavy Is the Crown’ will be out on September 24 at 8 a.m. PT.
