Linkin Park has returned with a new vocalist and drummer, releasing their first single in seven years. Emily Armstrong has taken over Chester Bennington’s role as the band’s singer, while Colin Brittain has stepped in for Rob Bourdon, who decided to leave the band.
Original members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave ‘Phoenix’ Farrell, and Joe Hahn have reunited for an upcoming album, ‘From Zero,’ and a few LP Underground-exclusive dates. Their new song, ‘The Emptiness Machine,’ came out shortly after their first event since Bennington’s passing in 2017.
The band recently ended a countdown that began a few weeks ago with a global livestream performance and also announced six arena shows in Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul, and Bogota as part of the ‘From Zero World Tour.’
Shinoda, Delson, Farrell, and Hahn started their reunion quietly, meeting up again in recent years with no initial plans to restart Linkin Park. However, as they reconnected and practiced with Armstrong and Brittain, they created their eighth studio album.
“Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking,” Shinoda shared in a statement about the upcoming record.
“Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future — embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life. It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years, and excited about the journey ahead.”
‘From Zero’ will see release on November 15.
