Oasis’ Liam Gallagher has faced criticism for not having any supporting bands on their upcoming tour. To address the backlash, he posted a single post on social media.
“To all the folk who are crying about us not showing love to the young bands and not letting them support, there’s LEVELS to this game and I’m afraid 99 percent of ya are way off,” he wrote on X.
There were rumors that a younger band would open for Oasis, and one of the named bands was Blossoms. However, it was clarified that no discussions had taken place.
“Nothing has been discussed, nothing has been asked; I don’t think they’ll sort it out until next year. It’s sold out,” Blossoms frontman Tom Ogden said during an interview with NME. “They don’t need to announce the supports. I’d like to think our name might be in the mix because why not? We’ve never shied away from saying how much they’ve influenced us.”
“We went to watch them at Heaton Park when we were 16, and we kind of know them both. I’m not going to get my hopes up, though, because, at the end of the day, it’s up to them. If we get asked, the bags are packed, and we’d smash it,” he added.
The rumors spread around when an insider told The Sun that Blossoms would be opening for Oasis, mentioning that the Gallagher brothers and Blossoms have been close friends for years.
“Noel and Liam and Blossoms have been friends for years and with the band also coming from Manchester, asking them to support Oasis was a no-brainer. It will be announced in due course but Blossoms have agreed to support Oasis at their Heaton park shows – naturally they jumped at the chance. It’s a full circle moment for them as members Tom Ogden and Joe Donovan’s first ever gig was at Oasis at Heaton Park.”
As of now, there is still no clear information about whether there will be an opening act, and it appears that there won’t be one for the tour unless further announcements are made.
