Lars Ulrich was seen slapping himself on camera before a Metallica concert in Munich, Germany.
The mentioned show happened at the Olympiastadion during the European leg of Metallica’s M72 World Tour. The band performed two concerts in Munich, one on May 24 and the other on May 26. May 24 included Architects and Mammoth WVH as the opening acts while the other night featured Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills.
Precious Moments From The Show
They’re promoting their album ’72 Seasons’ with two-night shows in each city, featuring no repeat songs. Despite heavy rain during their Munich concert, fans captured and shared the moment widely on social media and YouTube. It was a cool moment for many concert-goers.
In Munich, Metallica also played their longest song, ‘Inamorata,’ live for the first time. It’s an 11-minute track from their latest album, ’72 Seasons.’ They debuted the track on May 26. Before performing the song live for the first time, James Hetfield asked the fans not to criticize them:
“This next song, we have never, ever played live before. And, you know, in our band we don’t recognize the word ‘mistake,’ because there are no mistakes, there’s just unique moments that happen, all right? That’s what we need to tell ourselves. This one is from ’72 Seasons.’ It’s one of my favorites, so I’m gonna like it.”
Hetfield wrote the lyrics for ‘Inamorata.’ In a video about ’72 Seasons,’ he explained it’s about ‘having a love affair with misery.’ He also said it fits well as the last track on their latest album and loves its riffs and grooves.
In another recent gig, fans speculated that Ulrich angered Hetfield. In a video posted by Ataraxia, Hetfield can be seen telling Lars to ‘slow it down’. Commentators noted the issue wasn’t just speed but also tempo inconsistencies. One fan praised Hetfield’s professionalism for not confronting Lars directly, while another observed Kirk’s reaction suggesting something was off.
