Korn guitarist Brian Welch opened up about feeling alone even with the money and fame.
The rocker shared a video on his social media about his career and his ‘crazy life.’ He acknowledged that fame and money weren’t the solution for happiness and said:
“I think about it. I have lived a crazy life. I’ve toured the world dozens of times. I’ve made ridiculous amounts of money, I’ve met millions of people along the way but I still felt stuck. I felt alone and misplaced. What I realize is that true peace and genuine growth demand a price beyond money, beyond gold. They require the sacrifice of time, effort, selfish desires and truly giving up control. Until you’re willing to pay that cost, deep down, you’ll always have to question, ‘Is there more to life than this?’”
Is Korn Retiring?
Welch is well aware of the challenges the band will face as they get older. One question is how long Korn will keep writing, recording, and performing together as they grow older.
Welch reflected on the possibility of retirement in an interview with Metal Hammer. When asked about Korn’s future, Welch gave a straightforward take on what might be coming up:
“You know, I was talking to [fellow Korn guitarist James] Munky [Shaffer] the other day, like, ‘Munky, how long are you planning to go, man? Are we gonna be Rolling Stones wannabes, or do we wanna retire at some point and do something else?’”
He added:
“The truth is… we don’t know. We left it knowing it’s gotta be the fans’ decision in the end. So long as they want us, we could just keep going.”
