Now that Season 3 of the HBO hit series Industry has had its premiere, series newcomer Kit Harington is opening up about why he joined the show, and the nude scenes he’s filmed. Premiering in 2020, Industry has managed to capture a loyal audience thus far, with each season getting better than the last as it delves deep into a group of graduates jockeying for positions at a prestigious banking firm in London. Though it only has one episode under its belt so far, Season 3 currently holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
In an in depth profile courtesy of GQ, Harington says that the idea to join Industry for its junior season was his idea. As a fan of the series himself, he wanted to be a part of it, and told his agent to make some calls which creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay were very receptive to. As such, Harington didn’t even have to audition for a part, but instead was thrown into the mix straight away, something he calls “slightly alarming.”
That’s always slightly alarming, because you walk onto set and you can feel them going, ‘What if he’s not right?’ And you feel the pressure of, ‘What if what I do is not right for them?’

The part he was thrown into is Sir Henry Muck, the CEO of Lumi, a green tech energy company. While Down and Kay didn’t necessarily have Harington in mind for the role when they wrote the privileged and complex character, the Game of Thrones star was still able to relate to Muck thanks to his years of experience.
”
I’ve met a million guys like Henry
, and I really prefix this with saying I think a lot of private and public school boys get a very bad rap. There’s many, many very nice guys who are privately educated. But I’ve met some who are entitled in a specific way, which is not obvious. Not your creep, or loudmouth. It’s more like, as much as they might purport to see the world and all its breadth, they really have a very tunnel-vision view of things.”
Now, About Those Nude Scenes
As the saying goes, sex sells, and there’s no denying that Industry certainly has some racy moments. Case in point: Season 3, which features a sensual shower scene between Harington and Marisa Abela’s character of Yasmin that lets us know nothing is off limits for Muck. No stranger to showing off his physique, Harington was hopeful that he’d get to keep at least one physical trait that makes him look sexy: his beard.
“One of the first things I said to Mickey and Kon was, ‘You guys are running a sexy show here. And I know you’re going to want me to shave, because it’s banking isn’t it? And I just do not look sexy without a beard. I look like a tired child. No one’s gonna believe that Marisa would go for me.’ They agreed, thankfully.”
When it came time for the 37-year-old English actor to be in the nude, Harington was already prepared for the moment, as keeping in shape is something he’s done for years to aid with his mental health. Still, he admits that maybe he put in a little extra work before the cameras started rolling. “I go to the gym for my head anyway,” he said. “But when I knew I was getting my bum out, I was like, ‘OK, you’re on the squats this week.'”
