Katy Perry is capping off her time on American Idol with a sartorial high note.
The singer, 39, has served as a judge on the reality singing competition series for seven seasons and celebrated her last episode during the season 22 finale on Sunday, May 19. Perry wore two special looks for the occasion, each paying homage to her time on the show.
During the emotional finale, Perry took the stage with third-place contestant Jack Blocker in a silver corset dress with a massive skirt emblazoned with the faces of 168 former Idol contestants — the top 24 from each of the 7 seasons that the singer was a judge. She stood on a tall platform to show off the towering ensemble.
“I thought a good way to honor my time here would be to put the top 24 of each season on my skirt so they were all there. It was a fun surprise because I was raising up and you just saw more and more contestants,” the “Firework” singer told Entertainment Tonight after the show.
“There is it… 7 years,” Perry captioned an Instagram post showing off the finale look. The carousel also included a video of a team of people carrying the sprawling dress into the studio.
The star wore another meaningful look during the broadcast — a gold breastplate adorned with seven 3D roses. On Instagram, she shared that the piece represented the seven seasons she was on Idol. Perry paired the corset top with a floor-length white skirt.

Perry appeared emotional during the American Idol finale, in which Abi Carter took home the title. She cried and hugged fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie as Carter performed a rendition of Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?”
The Idol winner was up against Will Moseley and Jack Blocker, who placed second and third, respectively.

The “California Girls” singer joined Idol as a judge alongside Bryan, 47, and Richie, 74, in 2018 for the revival of the show on ABC following its original 15-season run on Fox.
After seven seasons, she announced her exit from the reality series on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in February 2024. At the time, she teased that she has more projects, including new music, to come later in the year.
“I think this probably will be my last show, my last season for Idol,” Perry said. “I mean I love Idol so much.”
“It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat, you what I’m saying Jimmy?” she added, winking at host Jimmy Kimmel.
