Welcome to The Blueprint, where we break down the celebrity looks we want to wear right now and build them back up, piece by piece.
When I woke up today and saw Katie Holmes’ outfit, I actually said to myself: “What did I do to deserve such good fortune?” As someone who’s been struggling with spring style, I’m so happy to finally have a new blueprint to follow.
The Dawson’s Creek actress, 45, was seen smiling big in New York City last week, and her outfit made me do the same. The star had a $600 leather bomber jacket from Mango on, some cropped jeans, and a pair of burgundy ballet flats for a mix of cozy and breezy pieces. The whole ensemble was downright basic, but not the bad kind — it was so easy to recreate that I knew I could not mess up.
Temperatures can be hot one second and cold the next right now, which causes a whole bunch of confusion when trying to hammer together an outfit. But a bomber jacket is nice for blocking out the wind and preventing goosebumps when the day suddenly turns overcast, plus they’re backed by other stars like Sarah Jessica Parker and Gigi Hadid.
Jeans are always reliable, but they become even cooler when they are a shorter length. And when paired with a heavier item like a jacket, they’re going to keep your body temperature more balanced. Similarly, ballet flats expose more skin than a pair of sneakers but don’t feel as risky as open-toed sandals.

Max Studio Faux Suede Bomber Jacket
Despite how much I love Holmes’ jacket, I can’t currently justify spending $600 on it. But this one that’s now under $45 is within my budget. The color is dead-on, and the drawstring waist increases its styling potential since it can be worn baggier or tighter. Plus, it’s a whopping 77 percent off right now.
Lee Legendary High-Rise Wide-Leg Crop Jean
Holmes’ jeans could definitely be more straight-legged, but I want breathability wherever I can get it. Hence, this wide-leg pair from Lee. They look like they’d have some fluidity when moving around, making them a comfy everyday option. Also, they’re really similar to a pair Gwyneth Paltrow was recently spotted in.
Birdies The Crane Flat
Shoes are also my vice, so I always take them where I can get them. Birdies gifted me these burgundy flats a few months back, and I still can’t believe that they’re secretly slippers. I also used to think big bags looked bad on me, but since Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, and more A-Listers are carrying them, I’ve changed my tune. Shop this one from Amazon while it’s only $15.
TL;DR: Holmes is officially my style hero. Keep scrolling to shop for bomber jackets, jeans, and more styles inspired by the star now.
