Jude Law dons a think mustache and enters a deadly cat-and-mouse game with neo-Nazis in the first trailer for the critically acclaimed The Order (2024), which promises to be one of the best movies of the year. The crime thriller is based on a chilling true story and takes inspiration from the 1989 non-fiction book “The Silent Brotherhood” by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt. The movie made its debut at the Venice International Film Festival where it received a seven-minute standing ovation and praise for Law and director Justin Kurzel. Now we finally have our first look at what could be a 2024 masterpiece.
Helmed by Justin Kurzel, who is best known for the likes of the acclaimed Macbeth starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard…and the maligned adaptation of the video game Assassin’s Creed, The Order stars Jude Law as stressed-out FBI agent Terry Husk and Nicholas Hoult as the neo-Nazi leader Bob Mathews. The rest of the cast includes Tye Sheridan, Jurnee Smollett, Alison Oliver, Odessa Young, and Marc Maron. You can check out the first trailer for The Order below.

“Based on a true story, an alarming surge in violent bombings and bank robberies in the Pacific Northwest leads a weathered FBI agent into a deadly cat-and-mouse game with a charismatic domestic terrorist plotting to overthrow the US government.”
The Order & Jude Law Have Been Met With Critical Acclaim
Following its debut at Venice in August, The Order has been hailed as a cinematic great by critics, with the movie now standing at a hugely promising 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. Alexander Harrison of Screen Rant found a lot to enjoy in the thriller, awarding it a near-perfect 4/5 and commending The Order for entering “into a world of violence, regardless of which side of the law you’re on, and what you experience could condemn you to a hateful existence.”
“Justin Kurzel’s The Order is a warning, and it leaves us with the chilling sense that what happened hasn’t yet, or maybe can’t, come to an end.”
Owen Gleiberman of Variety, meanwhile, calls The Order “At once a supremely intelligent docudrama about the rise of the white-supremacist movement and a riveting crime story,” while Jordan Mintzer of The Hollywood Reporter praised the movie for its old school sentiments and portrayal of American violence, “The Order is the kind of tense reflection on American violence that Hollywood rarely puts on the big screen anymore.”

“Jude Law has a strong contemporary role and seems to relish playing a hard-boiled cop, with him nailing the driven and obsessive Husk. A seen-it-all veteran with many skeletons in his closet, he’s well paired with Sheridan, whose wide-eyed deputy still believes in humanity and thinks he can make a difference.”
