Jordan Chiles knows what makes a winning beauty routine.
After all, her skin care and makeup is put to the ultimate test — that is, being able to withstand all the impressive flips and tumbles she performs during her competitions.
The gold-medal-winning gymnast, who is currently competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics with Team USA in Paris and just picked up gold for the Women’s Team Final alongside her teammates, spilled all of her beauty tips and tricks — including how she gets her makeup to stay on during a match — in a Beauty Secrets tutorial for Vogue.
Here’s the breakdown.
Chiles, 23, first preps her skin with an eight-step beauty routine consisting of a cleanser, toner, three different serums — including one for the under-eye area — a moisturizer, a sunscreen and eye patches (in that order).
Her collection features products from cult-favorite brands, like Charlotte Tilbury, Fenty Beauty, Summer Fridays and Bliss, so she definitely knows what she’s talking about when it comes to skin care.
“We as women always have to be on point, ready, doing this, doing that, looking good. I think it’s very interesting how much women actually enjoy the beauty aspect of things,” Chiles said before getting into her makeup.
“It did take me a while to embrace my beauty. But now that I embrace my beauty, I love it. I love waking up in the morning and doing skin care, I love being able to do my makeup and being able to just enjoy every moment that I am as a woman,” she added.

That even applies to her 26-step makeup routine consisting of her 15 favorite products (foundation, concealer, primers, eyeshadows, lip oils and liners, blush, contour and eyebrows included).
It might be a tad more complex, but she explains that there are certain parts to her look that have to be gymnastics-ready.
For example, she uses the One/Size Secure the Blur Makeup Magnet Primer to lock in her makeup. “Primer is very important for me. We sweat, we cry (happy tears, sad tears, whatever it is),” she said.
She also pays extra attention to her eye area, applying eyeshadow primer and strategically placing her concealer and setting powder (both by Fenty Beauty) in the inner corners of her eyes to achieve a brightening effect that looks good under the spotlight during her matches.
Chiles revealed that after practice and before a competition, she usually has a few hours to get ready, half of which she reserves for naps, a shower and getting in a meal and the other saved for glam.

By now, she’s gotten her routine down pat though, as the games in Paris marks her second time competing in the largest sporting event in the world.
Chiles competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan and took home a silver medal in the team event. Ahead her trip to the City of Light, she told Vogue that she feels like she’s got a good head on her shoulders now.
“The first time I went to the Olympics, I was 19 years old. I was just there having fun, trying to discover myself as a person and an athlete all in one. Now that I’m 23, I know the layout, I’ve done this once before. I know who I am as a person. So now I’m giving you the full Jordan Chiles,” she said.
