Jon Bon Jovi said his son, Jake Bongiovi, is facing difficulties getting hired for roles because auditions are now made over Zoom.
The Bon Jovi singer shared his frustration with this modern trend. He stated that casting agents are missing out on experiencing the ‘magic’ of his 21-year-old son when he walks into a room. He told in a recent interview:
“My son is a young, aspiring actor. He would have that magic when he walked into a room for an audition – but he came up during Covid and now everything is on Zoom. All these casting agents are missing out on the personality of the young actor, winning your heart, not just reading your lines.”
Bongiovi Isn’t Considering A Music Career
Bongiovi officially started his acting career this year with ‘Rockbottom.’ In the movie, Bongiovi channels his father on stage in a rock ‘n’ roll comedy. The movie revolves around an ’80s hair metal band called CougarSnake that makes a comeback.
Though the movie is about rock and roll, Bongiovi doesn’t think of ever being a musician. In a 2022 interview with Man About Town magazine, he shared his determination to pursue a career as an actor instead of following his father’s footsteps. When asked about a potential music career, he replied:
“I think I’ll leave that to my dad! There’s really no following the act there. There was always music playing in the house growing up, all different types of genres from all different types of worlds. But what spoke to me were the people on the screen, not the voices through the speakers.”
