Actor John Stamos has come under fire for donning a bald cap as a gesture of support for his friend and Full House co-star Dave Coulier, as the actor undergoes cancer treatment. Meant as a show of solidarity, Stamos’s picture with a shaven-headed Coulier has been branded insensitive and tone-deaf. While it is clear from the images that Coulier did not feel this way about it, that has not stopped many airing their views online.
The backlash began when Stamos decided to wear the bald cap during a public appearance meant to raise awareness about Coulier’s illness, and the treatment he is currently undergoing. It is clear just by looking at the photos shared that Coulier has no issues with the gesture, and there was no offense intended, but there are many who do not feel the same way. In the post, Stamos commented:
“Nothing like throwing on a bald cap and flexing some Photoshop skills to show some love and solidarity with my bro @dcoulier You’re handling this with so much strength and positivity—it’s inspiring. I know you’re going to get through this, and I’m proud to stand with you every step of the way. I love you (p.s. – @melissacoulier is the most wonderfulest – your true life line!)”
There were many initial reactions of praying hand emojis, simple well-wishes, and heart emoji’s for Stamos’ post. However, it did not take long for another side to come out in the comments, as people began to vent at the actor for what they said was making a “triviality” of the disease.
What Have People Said About John Stamos’ “Bald Cap Solidarity”?
On the back of Stamos’ post, one comment on the post said, “That’s not solidarity. You didn’t actually shave your head. Wow… you should have just posted you are there for him without the insult.”
Another added, “Come on John shave it!!! Sending much love and strength.”
There were obviously some counters to these comments, with others suggesting that Stamos’ current workload could make it impossible for him to shave his head right now, and one followed up on this by saying, “Wow. After reading all these comments, if I ever lose my hair NOBODY better shave their damn head to “show” they support me. Please use a bald cap if you want to make me laugh lol.”

John Stamos and Dave Coulier share a long-standing friendship, dating back to their time on the sitcom Full House. Stamos has often spoken publicly about his admiration for Coulier and the friendship they have had for decades, meaning that, like everything, there are two sides to the story.
