In a new interview with Daily Beast, John Lennon’s son Sean Ono Lennon has opened up about the Beatles feud.
The disagreement between Lennon and the other band members led him to quit. They eventually sorted things out, but it wasn’t as big a deal as fans thought. Sean Ono acknowledges the feud was real but says fans might have exaggerated it. He explained:
“I think so. I think the tensions between the Beatles, although real, were exaggerated in the minds of the public. You can hear him speak on their breakup and he always looks back fondly and seemed open to whatever might happen in the future. It’s hard to speculate, but eventually some sort of reunion was certainly on the table.”
Paul McCartney’s Thoughts On The Feud
Lennon left the Beatles in 1969, and they officially broke up in 1970 amid bitterness.
Later, Paul McCartney and Lennon’s relationship soured. They publicly criticized each other’s music and wrote songs to each other like McCartney’s ‘Too Many People’ and Lennon’s ‘How Do You Sleep?’
Luckily, rebuilt their friendship before Lennon’s death. They even considered reuniting The Beatles, nearly doing so for a 1976 episode of Saturday Night Live.
And today, it’s a moment that the bassist Beatle looks back on fondly. McCartney wrote in his book:
“We had even more in common, and we’d often talk about being parents. I was very glad of how we got along in those last few years, that I had some really good times with him before he was murdered. Luckily, our last meeting was very friendly. We talked about how to bake bread.”
